About Us
What we believe
An increasing number of Americans are questioning the wisdom and effectiveness of our government’s unconditional, uncritical support for Israeli policy toward the Palestinian people. There’s a growing awareness that the tens of billions of dollars in aid granted to Israel over the past decades—and $30 billion more pledged over the current 10-year period—constitute a massive policy failure for the U.S.
For too long, Americans have been asked to believe that U.S. aid to Israel contributes to bringing peace to the region and that Israel’s interests are identical to those of the U.S. The reality, however, is different: our billions have perpetuated the occupation and dispossession and caused grave harm to America’s international standing and security, while harming the long-term interests of the Israelis and Palestinians for peace, security, and equality.
It is our responsibility as citizens and taxpayers to end our government’s costly and counterproductive support of Israeli policy.
This campaign
This “Be on Our Side” media and education project promotes a positive, productive U.S. policy toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Calls to end military aid to Israel are growing in number and impact. High-profile public figures, faith-based groups, political organizations, and ordinary American taxpayers and citizens across the country are speaking up about the need for change.
Initiated by the Committee for a Just Peace in Israel and Palestine (www.cjpip.org), the campaign is building awareness about the massive scale of U.S. aid to Israel, the ways that aid is used, the negative consequences of the aid, and the need to end it now.
The project launched in Chicago in 2010 and is expanding to other U.S. cities. Read here how to bring the campaign to your city!
